Congressman Brian Fitzpatrick introduced a resolution proposing a constitutional amendment to put term limits in place for members of Congress.

The resolution limits individuals to six two-year terms in the U.S. House of Representatives and two six-year terms in the U.S. Senate.

The proposed amendment would not apply to anyone serving in the House or Senate during any Congress before the 118th Congress, however.

While Fitzpatrick is the sponsor, he was able to get Democrat Rep. Ro Khanna to cosponsor it.

The proposal is H.J. Res. 5.
