An elementary teacher shared ways she hints to students that she is queer so they’ll confide her, according to a video posted by Libs of TikTok.
The teacher said she wears a bisexual watch band, bisexual flag bracelet and has a rainbow flag in the classroom.
“My kids know what it means,” she said. “This is me telling them I am a safe place to talk without making a big deal out of being queer.
“Because I am openly queer, my students trust me. Especially my queer students. I teach fifth grade this next school year. I’ve been teaching fourth grade for the last four years.”
Currently she is teaching third grade during summer school. She claims two third-grade students approached her asking to use they/them pronouns and if she could tell other students.
The teacher gave the information to other teachers and claims she was then scolded because it wasn’t appropriate for her to communicate the way she did it.
