May 1 is the 11^th anniversary of the killing of Osama Bin Laden, the mastermind of 9-11.  Bin Laden was buried at sea the following day by the U.S. Navy.

President Obama had thought it was important enough to be “respectful” of bin Laden’s body that there had been extensive pre-planning and consultation with “experts in Islamic law and ritual” to ensure that bin Laden was accorded a funeral that conformed to “Islamic law.”
