On Thursday, Congresswoman Kat Cammack (R-FL-03), member of the House Homeland Security Committee, released the following statement on the Supreme Court’s ruling, allowing the Biden administration to terminate the Trump administration’s ‘Remain in Mexico’ policy.

“To say I’m disappointed in today’s Supreme Court ruling is an understatement. I’m frustrated that this administration can continue with their utter disregard for our national security, American lives, and the agents doing the impossible task of managing the influx of migrants pouring across our borders. During the worst crisis at our southern border in American history, there are very few measures that allow our agents to do their jobs and process the millions of illegal immigrants who have crossed our borders since Biden took office, and now that tool—’Remain in Mexico’—is gone,” said Cammack.

“The MPP allowed CBP agents to send migrants seeking entry into the U.S. back to Mexico to await their hearings, instead of admitting them and sending them to locations across the country with a court date we know the majority will never attend. MPP was a necessary tool and many CBP agents will tell you the same thing—they’re overwhelmed and desperately need the policies and real solutions this administration has blatantly neglected to defend our national security under the most dire of circumstances.

“Make no mistake: Biden has no plan to address the crisis at our border and he is fully to blame for the crime, human trafficking, and public health tragedies occurring there. He is the trafficker-in-chief and my hope is that he and his incompetent DHS Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas will be held fully responsible when Republicans take the House back in November.

“In the interim, I know our agents will continue to do their best to manage this historic, wholly preventable crisis and my colleagues on the Homeland Security Committee will continue to push this administration and Sec. Mayorkas to get serious about taking action to end it.”
