Politics is no different than shopping online or at the grocery store. In a day and age where people are attempting to be more health-conscious and want real food, even smaller grocery stores in smaller towns attempt to offer “healthier choices.” This is because that’s what sells. I don’t believe, necessarily, that the owners of Hyvee, Fareway or Walmart actually are health-conscious people. But that is what gets you and me through the door. It is what sells.
This gubernatorial campaign cycle in Iowa is no different. There is a degree to which this is fine. The issues of the 21st century are not the same as those of 100 years ago. Candidates must be able to see what time it is and respond accordingly. But there is also a degree to which many candidates, Rob Sand in particular, don’t believe in the real product that they are selling. He knows it’s a fake. He just wants you and me in the door so the transaction can occur. Like a watch selling on Temu, it might look like the real thing at a crazy-good price. Then you receive the item and realize it’s a fake. Too late — money is gone and you’ll never get it back. Now you’re just stuck with an item that doesn’t work and doesn’t fulfill its purpose.
OK, enough with the analogies… enter Rob Sand.
For my entire life, literally, I have been consistently told the following by my culture, elites and elected officials:
- Being white is bad.
- Don’t be masculine, be feminine. Down with toxic masculinity, don’t do masculine things.
- Be selfish, don’t have children. The nuclear family is bad. All relationships are the same.
- Don’t be fit, don’t look strong.
- American culture is bad, what we need is multiculturalism and immigration.
- More women and minorities in places of power and politics!
- On and on and on…
So why is Rob Sand running a “moderate” campaign? Why would Rob Sand not campaign on all the crazy leftist policies I saw being pushed in Des Moines while I was in office for four years? Or get in line with all the talking points I’ve been taught my whole life? To be more specific, why choose Dave Muhlbauer as your Lt. Governor and running mate? The irony is not lost on me, and it shouldn’t be lost on you either.
Muhlbauer appears to be the opposite of the leftist worldview and is antithetical to everything I saw and heard from Democrats for four years in the Iowa legislature. Mulhbauer is a straight white male with a big (bigger than most) family and is married to a woman. He looks like a strong, hard-working cattle farmer — sporting the beard and cowboy hat! My point is, he doesn’t look feminine and weak.
Now, before you think this is a stump speech to vote for Sand, it’s not. My point is simply this. The crazy anti-family, anti-masculinity, anti-white, anti-American dog doesn’t hunt. If those things were a winning message to the culture as a whole, Sand would be pushing those things – not distancing himself from them. When the rubber meets the road, people who want to live in a normal functioning society recognize that the leftist worldview doesn’t work. It’s not fulfilling, and it only leads to despair. See the 2024 election cycle, which saw the Democrats (all of the things Rob Sand believes) campaign on “We will let you murder your babies, trans your kids, and open our borders to the rest of the world”. They got obliterated. I noticed the myriad of gay and trans flags in the Iowa House of Representatives were mostly gone. But I digress…
Now to be clear – Rob Sand is a liberal. He isn’t going to be a moderate in office if elected. If he desires to get elected and stay elected, he is going to have to appeal to his base. The group of voters who are anti-white male, anti-family, pro abortion, pro homosexuality/trans, pro-open borders, etc. Sand doesn’t win or stay in office without them. He will be those things. To give an anecdotal example – the top comments on an article published by Bleeding Heartland introducing Dave Muhlbauer as the Lt. Governor pick expressed disappointment that there wasn’t a woman going to be on the ticket. It’s the 21st century, Sand would be better off running as a moderate Republican given many Republicans are just as liberal as some Democrats. If you’re a Democrat on the ticket, you better act like one in office.
Rob Sand is going to act like one in office. He is a leftist who will seek to push all the same radical policies that run against his seemingly moderate veneer.
Our culture needs leaders who will incentivize the nuclear family – because they actually believe it. Uplifting fatherhood and motherhood, for women to be feminine and men to be masculine. For children’s innocence and rights to be protected, and not thrown into the garbage (literally) in exchange for the perverted desires of adults. All of these qualities are the backbone of a thriving, safe and strong nation. This is why, even though Sand doesn’t actually desire to implement any of these things, he must pretend like he does. He must push a campaign with this outward appearance. If those things aren’t appealing and normal, if they didn’t work – he wouldn’t campaign this way.
Rob Sand will govern like a leftist Democrat, not a moderate third-party guy, because that is what he is. He will say to us what is necessary to get us in the door – maybe say enough to get the “organic” label on the product. But he isn’t the real deal. Like Temu, we will be sucked into what seems like a good deal. Only to realize what we’ve been sold was a fake version of what was advertised. For the sake of our county and its children, please buy the real thing.
