On Tuesday, Congressman Bob Good (VA-05) introduced a bill to protect the First Amendment rights of religious organizations which contract with the federal government by codifying a Trump-era Department of Labor rule that President Biden rescinded last year.

“The Constitution guarantees the right to freedom of speech and the free exercise of religion. I will always fight for the rights of Americans to operate according to their sincerely-held religious beliefs. The Biden Administration must cease and desist its assault on the religious liberties of Americans and the principles our country was founded upon.”

Rep. Good’s legislation will provide protections for organizations which operate according to their sincerely-held religious beliefs by clarifying that these organizations are protected to the fullest extent of the law as guaranteed by the Constitution and the Religious Freedom Restoration Act (RFRA). It also ensures that organizations which seek contracts with the Department of Labor are not discriminated against in award decisions based on their religious affiliation.
