Congresswoman Ashley Hinson (IA-01) released the following statement regarding tonight’s vote on the continuing resolution and debt limit extension bill.

“America’s credit card is maxed out. Suspending the debt limit until December 2022 is essentially ignoring the overdue balance in our already depleted bank account for over a year. This is reckless and irresponsible.

“Funding the government and keeping it running is a serious function of Congress and we should do so in a way that is accountable and transparent to taxpayers. Instead, Speaker Pelosi has prioritized dealing in backrooms and ramming through socialist spending sprees–she continues to cave to the far-left and put taxpayers last.

“She knows the package brought to the floor tonight will be dead on arrival in the Senate. The government will shut down in less than ten days if Speaker Pelosi refuses to get serious.

“It’s past time for Speaker Pelosi end the dysfunction in Congress and allow us to work together for the taxpayers we serve.” – Congresswoman Ashley Hinson
