Earlier today we told you about an amendment proposed in the Iowa House that would prohibit schools from mandating masks. It would also prevent cities and counties from mandating masks in businesses.

Republican Rep. Steve Holt predicted on Facebook the amendment would pass along with the bill, House File 847.

“Instead of a July 1 implementation date as is normal practice, the Governor requested immediate implementation upon her signature,” Holt said. “We will debate and pass this bill today and send it to the Governor. Once signed, the decision on masks will rest where it always should have been – with parents.”

In addition, the bill requires public school classrooms to have a U.S. flag on display and offer the Pledge of Allegiance each day.
