Representative Chip Roy (TX-21) issued the following statement last week after President Trump released his budget proposal:

Congressman Roy said: “Today, the White House released a transformational budget that maintains strong funding for our national defense while reducing the woke, weaponized, and wasteful bureaucracy by 20% even farther back than pre-COVID levels.  Combined with our joint efforts to rescind additional wasteful spending, and deliver a reconciliation bill that will extend and expand the Trump tax cuts while reforming Medicaid and other programs to reduce deficits, we are poised to deliver prosperity, freedom, and strength to the American people.

I strongly commend President Trump, OMB Director Russ Vought, and the entire White House team for releasing a truly transformational budget that maintains strong funding for our national defense while reducing by 20% the woke, weaponized, and wasteful bureaucracy by 20% to better than pre-COVID levels. This budget realigns federal spending to the priorities of the people: a secure nation, making America healthy again, a Justice Department combatting crime and not weaponized against the people, and common sense. Combined with our joint efforts to rescind other wasteful spending, and deliver a reconciliation bill that will extend and expand the Trump tax cuts while reforming Medicaid and other programs to reduce deficits, we are poised to deliver prosperity, freedom, and strength to the American people.”
