Congressman Keith Self today introduced the Ensuring Lawful Collection of Hidden Assets to Provide Order (EL CHAPO) Act. The bill would reserve assets forfeited to the United States government as a result of the criminal prosecution of Joaquin Archivaldo Guzman Loera (commonly known as ‘‘El Chapo’’) or other drug lords for security measures along the Southern border, including the completion of a border wall.

Congressman Keith Self said, “Securing our border is one of my top priorities, and the U.S. government should use every available resource to prevent violent criminals, drug lords and human traffickers from illegally crossing into our country. Leveraging assets seized from drug lords should be used for border infrastructure and resources for our border patrol agents.”

We must take this immediate action to end the border crisis. I will do everything in my power to help secure the southern border.
