Republican State Rep. Jeff Shipley said he will run for re-election in the new Iowa House District 87, which includes Fairfield, Mount Pleasant and “all the villages of Van Buren County.”
“Serving the people of Iowa through these most difficult moments in our nation’s history is not a responsibility I take lightly,” Shipley said. “The reports of governments around the world instituting medical apartheid are incredibly disturbing. The civil rights complaints of Iowans facing discrimination in their workplace are also egregious, and the executive branch must ensure these laws are enforced.”
In addition, Shipley said the public school system is in “desperate need of serious and comprehensive reform.”
“As a society, we are not providing our children the love and support they truly need,” he said. “But yet, it’s really no surprise our children feel so anxious and depressed when they observe the world they are inheriting.”
Shipley said he looks forward to strengthening his relationships in Jefferson and Van Buren counties in addition to making new friends in Henry County.
“I hope I can earn your vote and your support,” he said. “Let us give thanks to God for the beautiful state of Iowa and the opportunity to serve His Glory.”
