***The Iowa Standard will spend the next few weeks highlighting some of the men and women running for office in Iowa we believe worthy of support. What do we mean? These individuals stand out in the field of candidates and all Iowans should consider helping their candidacy in some way, shape or form.***

Republican State Rep. Jeff Shipley offers an exceptionally unique perspective in the Iowa House. Shipley wasn’t expected to win his seat back in 2018, but hard work and passion paid off as he knocked doors on his way to winning his spot in the Iowa House.

Shipley earned it.

And he deserves to keep it.

Shipley is one of the younger representatives in the Iowa House. He has a unique background and isn’t afraid of tackling controversial issues. Not only will he tackle controversial issues, he’ll take one issues that few other representatives even have on their radar.

The Iowa Standard knows Rep. Shipley to be someone willing to listen to his constituents. He is willing to give anyone in his district the time of day. He may not always agree, but he’ll listen.

And, when something is important to Shipley’s district, it becomes important to Shipley.

Perhaps his best attribute is he’ll always be his own man, while keeping his district’s best interest in mind.

He’ll stand up for what he believes is right. He’ll stand against what he believes is wrong. He will maintain his independence.

Even if one doesn’t agree with Shipley’s positions on those controversial topics, they should appreciate the uniqueness he brings to the Iowa legislature.

Shipley is in a battle for re-election. As one of the few willing to take on controversy, he is a top target for Democrats.

Should Shipley lose his seat, it will be a loss not just for all Republicans in his district, not just Republicans in Iowa, but a loss for all Iowans.

His unique voice, passion and spirit benefit all of us. He deserves to be re-elected.
