If Iowa GOP determines to make all abortions illegal, women will die from obtaining abortions in unsafe, unsanitary conditions.
I’ve come a long way in my thoughts on this subject (blame a strict religious upbringing). After tons of research and speaking with hundreds of Iowans on the subject, with all its nuances and complications, I feel strongly that a woman’s right to choose is just that….a woman’s basic right.
• 8 in 10 Americans believe abortion should be legal.
o 77% of Americans support Roe v. Wade.
• 6 in 10 women who seek abortion are already mothers trying to take care of the families they have.
• 1 in 4 U.S. women will have an abortion by the age of 45.5
• Polling has found that reproductive freedom is widely supported by people of all faiths.
o A majority of voters of many faiths in battleground states support reproductive freedom and access to abortion, including:
73% of Protestants
70% of Roman Catholics
83% of voters who practice another form of Christianity
89% of Jewish voters
60% of Muslims
87% who practice another religion.
