Recently, Marjorie Taylor Greene resigned from Congress, citing disillusionment with Washington and took a personal stand on the Political Industrial Complex, which she accused both parties of using Americans as pawns in an endless game of division.  Her letter and speech were scathing attacks on Washington D.C.  She declared that neither party truly serves ordinary Americans.

Let’s look at this, because if what she says is truly the facts, then how can we really get out of this spiral out of control that our Federal Government has become.  Greene resigned because she said, “Washington’s political machine cannot be stopped by one person, no matter how loud or strong”.

If this is true, then how can we recover our out-of-control federal government from being the swamp that it truly is.  I’ve been asked about running for the open Congressional seat in House District 4, but I’ve consistently responded that my main goal is to be relevant and achieve meaningful results.  In other words, I see D.C. as a swamp and a place to be avoided if a person wants to accomplish good things.

Here is the good news, in my opinion.  Greene stated that the “People possess the real power over Washington, but they don’t realize it”.  When we look at how people possess the real power in D.C., of course we think about elections and elections do matter.  Next year’s upcoming midterm election is set to be one of the most transformative in recent memory.

Yet when it comes down to it, often we send the same people to Washington D.C. that we have sent for years.  After a time, they get mired in the Industrial political machine and nothing new happens.  When I say this, I blast both parties just as Greene did, when she declared “No matter which way the political pendulum swings, Republican or Democrat, nothing ever gets better for the common American man or woman.  The debt goes higher.  Corporate global interests win.”

There is something that we can do, however, that puts the common American in charge again.  I have advocated for years that a convention to propose amendments to the Constitution is the way to reign in our federal government when it seems non-reign-able.

The current movement for proposing a convention to propose amendments is advocating for imposing fiscal restraints on the federal government (balanced budget), limiting the jurisdictional power of the federal government (returning power back to the States), and establishing term limits.

To get there, at least 34 states must pass resolutions calling for a convention on specific topics.  Once called the States will appoint delegates to attend the convention and those delegates, once seated will propose constitutional amendments that must correspond with the reason the convention was called by the 34 States.  Those proposed Constitutional Amendments must then be approved by 38 States, just as other Constitutional Amendments must be approved.  If approved by 38 States, the proposed Constitutional Amendment becomes a Constitutional Amendment to the U.S. Constitution.

I believe the convention of the States is the way forward.  This is the way to save our country and bring us back the balance that we once had but has given way to the Washington D.C. Political Machine.  If D.C. were forced to function like the States, we would see balanced budgets and less rhetoric.  Help me and contact your legislator, no matter where you are and ask them to pass a Resolution proposing a convention to propose amendments to the U.S. Constitution.
