The filing period just closed, but business is picking up in Iowa’s Second Congressional District. Five Republicans filed, but this recent rift is strictly between State Sen. Mariannette Miller-Meeks and former Congressman Bobby Schilling, who served in D.C. as a representative of Illinois.

After months of attacks and mistruths coming from Bobby Schilling, we thought the best way to share the truth about him was to let him do it in his own words: schillingforvotes.com

Schilling said he expected to see an attack from Miller-Meeks.

“I’m not surprised to see cheap shots from a candidate who has come up short in every General Election for IA-2,” he said. “California native Miller-Meeks should stick to telling Republican voters how she plans to win in the General Election since obviously she’s never won a Democrat district.

“When you lose a General Election three times, voters are telling you something — they just don’t like you.”

With a few months left before Republicans decide on their nominee, this is likely just the beginning.

Tim Borchardt, Steven Everly and Rick Phillips are also running in the GOP Primary. Rita Hart is running unopposed on the Democrat side to replace Congressman Dave Loebsack.
