In addition to Republican governors selecting Gov. Doug Ducey as chair of the RGA despite his spat with President Donald J. Trump, Iowa Gov. Kim Reynolds was selected as vice-chair of the group.
“Across the nation, GOP governors are leading America’s economic comeback, working to grow jobs, expand opportunity and keep our communities safe,” Reynolds tweeted. “I look forward to partnering with RGA chairman Ducey to grow our ranks and elect more Republican governors across our country.”
Sen. Charles Grassley said being selected for the role gives national recognition to the “strong leadership for the people of Iowa” Gov. Reynolds provides.
Republican Party of Iowa Chairman Jeff Kaufmann congratulated Reynolds as well.
“From keeping taxes low while balancing the state budget, investing in Iowans’ priorities like K-12 education and skilled workforce training programs, to demonstrating steadfast leadership by taking a targeted, balanced approach to the COVID-19 pandemic, governors from across the country recognize Reynolds is a strong conservative leader who will never quit fighting for Iowa,” Kaufmann said.
