Monday marked the first day of The Des Moines Register/AARP candidate forum and 2020 Democrats did not disappoint. While Democrats said many outrageous things yesterday, nothing beats Joe Biden’s latest throwback to the previous administration.

In hopes of reminding voters of the “good old days,” Biden told Iowa seniors, “If you like your health care plan, your employer-based plan, you can keep it. If you like your private insurance, you can keep it.”

Sound familiar? PolitiFact awarded the Obama/Biden administration with the 2013 Lie of the Year after promises of “if you like your health care plan, you can keep it” failed miserably.

But no one suffered more than the people of Iowa. Hawkeye families saw premiums rise by 110 percent between 2013 and 2017. In 2018, only one insurance group [Medicare] was willing to sell Obamacare coverage in the state – with plans to raise premiums by 50 percent.

“Joe Biden is hoping to ride the coattails of the previous administration in hopes of making his latest run for president more successful than the last. Unfortunately for him, Iowans remember the lasting consequences of ‘if you like your health care, you can keep it’ and they’ll make sure plans to eliminate their private health insurance never come to fruition.” – RNC Spokesperson Preya Samsundar
