On Tuesday, Rep. Cindy Axne released a TV ad highlighting her efforts to help Iowans during the COVID-19 pandemic. The problem is, the ad is full of half-truths, mistruths, and outright lies.

In the ad, Axne claims she played a part in “personally securing” PPE and funding. But in reality, instead of cutting through the partisan noise and being the champion Iowans deserve, Axne chose to stay silent and allow her party bosses to play games with people’s lives.

Axne did nothing as Nancy Pelosi and House Leadership shot down Republican efforts to provide an additional $250 billion for the Paycheck Protection Program, a program that provided critically needed funding to keep businesses functioning and hard-working Iowans paid. When Axne and House Democrats did decide to finally do something, Pelosi’s relief package was more like a socialist wishlist — it included Green New Deal measures, crippling regulations on the airline industry, and even $35 million for a DC opera house.

“Rep. Axne’s latest ad is a crooked rewrite of history,” said Aaron Britt, Communications Director for the Republican Party of Iowa. “Instead of working on behalf of Iowa families, Axne let her Democratic colleagues play politics with coronavirus relief as Iowa businesses and families suffered. A TV ad won’t change the fact that Axne has become a pawn of Nancy Pelosi and the radical Left.”
