Recently, Rita Hart embraced anti-agriculture legislation proposed by East Coast liberals Elizabeth Warren and Cory Booker. This proposal has also been embraced by radical anti-ag organizations that oppose “incentives for corn-based ethanol” and believe in “minimizing the production and consumption of animals.”

This radical bill would hurt Iowa farmers’ bottom lines by limiting their production and restricting their ability to expand. Countless Iowa family farms would be forced to shut down. At the same time, it would raise their input costs — making it even more difficult for farmers to put food on the table.

Yet, Rita Hart said she “agreed with the principles” of this proposal — meaning Hart is in favor of surrendering the control of farms in her district to Washington, D.C. and East Coast liberals.

Notably, not a single farm organization has endorsed this radical proposal. The only groups that have voiced support are left-wing organizations that want to destroy the ethanol industry and decrease meat consumption. These radical groups have a long history of terrorizing ag producers with litigation and mob-like-tactics. Iowa CCI has even referred to farmers as “terrorists,” and “serfs,” and said farmers shouldn’t be paid. These organizations are no friends of Iowa farmers.

“It didn’t take long for Rita Hart to sell out Iowa farmers and ag producers just to appease the radical far-left wing of the Democratic Party,” said Aaron Britt, Communications Director for the Republican Party of Iowa. “Lt. Colonel Mariannette Miller-Meeks is the only candidate in this race that has the backbone to stand up to these radical organizations and fight for the Iowa farmer. Whether it’s overcoming poverty, healing her patients or serving in the state Senate, Mariannette Miller-Meeks has never backed down from a fight. Iowa farmers can count on her to have their backs.”
