“Brenna Bird has the courage to stand up to the abortion lobby and overreach from Washington and fight for Iowans, born and unborn,” said Marilyn Musgrave, SBA Pro-Life America’s vice president of government affairs.

“Long before the Biden administration was pushing to expand mail-order abortion drugs, Brenna was on the side of women and children, urging the state medical board to stop this dangerous practice. In stark contrast, Tom Miller refused to defend Iowa’s protections for unborn babies with beating hearts, drawing praise from the abortion industry. Four decades of pro-abortion Democrat control of this key office are enough – Iowans deserve an attorney general they can count on to champion their will. Brenna disproves the lie that abortion is a matter of ‘women’s rights.’ We’re proud to support her in her bid to unseat a true extremist.”

Bird is a lifelong Iowan. After earning her Juris Doctor degree from the University of Chicago, she returned home and joined former Governor Branstad’s team, serving as chief counsel. During her time in Des Moines, Bird served on the board of directors of InnerVisions HealthCare, a pregnancy center serving women in West Des Moines. She started her career as a prosecutor in 2016 and was elected Guthrie County Attorney in 2018. She, her husband Bob, and their son live on the family farm in Dexter and are members of All Saints Church.
