Bobby Schilling, Republican candidate for Congress in IA-2 doubled down on his pledge to protect American culture by committing to protect kids from radical sex education curriculum and from national gender activists who seek to allow biological males to compete in women’s athletics. Schilling issued the following statement:

“I want every Iowa family to know that I’m a fighter — for them and their children. I will continue fighting to protect the innocence of children in our schools and will also protect young women like my 4 daughters’ and granddaughters’ athletic opportunities from the gender activists who refuse to acknowledge any biological difference between males and females.

“I don’t care what elites call me. I’m not going to back down.

“My primary opponent Marianette Miller-Meeks should tell voters where she stands on these critical issues. They are not just important to Republican voters, but all voters.”

The statement was made in response to recent news articles and Friday’s announcement from the Department of Education that school districts that allow for biological males to compete in women’s athletic competitions are violating Title IX of civil rights law.

Title IX was established in 1972 to provide equal educational and athletic opportunities for women. It’s passage led to major advancements for women across America. Title IX states:

“No person in the United States shall, on the basis of sex, be excluded from participation in, be denied the benefits of, or be subjected to discrimination under any education program or activity receiving Federal financial assistance.”

Schilling issued the following statement in response:

Friday, Donald J. Trump and Education Secretary Betsy DeVos took bold action to protect women’s sports from gender activists who want to allow biological males to compete in women’s athletic competitions! Title IX was established to give women like my 4 daughters and 4 granddaughters equal opportunities in education and athletics. By keeping males out of women’s sports, Trump and DeVos are ensuring that those opportunities will be protected by force of federal law. I want to thank President Trump and our Secretary of Education, Betsy DeVos for protecting my daughters’ and granddaughters’ futures. Thank you for your bold leadership!

Allowing biological males to compete in women’s athletic competitions has become a growing controversy across the United States and has been challenged in federal courts by female athletes from across the country.
