Secretary of State Paul Pate is partnering with the Iowa Wild hockey team to promote our state’s unique first-in-the-nation caucus status and help fans register to vote. The Iowa Wild is holding a “Wild About Voting Night” this Friday at Wells Fargo Arena.

The Secretary of State’s Office, along with representatives from Iowa’s Democratic and Republican parties will be on hand to help register fans to vote and answer questions about the Iowa Caucuses.

“I’m proud to team up with the Iowa Wild and the political parties to promote civic engagement, voter registration and the Iowa Caucuses in a bipartisan way,” Secretary Pate said. “Iowa is the center of the political universe right now and it’s important that our citizens are engaged in this process.”

The Secretary of State’s Office will have voter registration forms and iPads for online registration available inside the main concourse for the Iowa Wild games on Friday and Saturday night. Additionally, free #BeAVoter trading cards featuring Iowa Wild mascot Crash will be given away, along with Women’s Suffrage Centennial Celebration bookmarks and Honor A Veteran postcards. Representatives from the Iowa League of Heroes will be on hand as well.

“We’re excited to have the Secretary of State’s office and party representatives out to our game on Friday to register fans to vote and to educate our fans on the role and importance of the Iowa’s first-in-the-nation Caucuses on Feb 3,” said Allie Brown, senior director of marketing for the Iowa Wild.  “It is an exciting time in Iowa and important to participate in decisions made that affect our local community.

The Iowa Wild is a member of the American Hockey League. They host the Manitoba Moose on Friday at 7 p.m. For more information on Friday’s game, visit IowaWild.com.
