Sen. Claire Celsi attempted to get a shot in on conservative Sen. Jake Chapman (R-Adel) on Friday. Celsi, one of the most liberal members of the Iowa Senate, shared a photo of Chapman with a mask on in the chamber while he was talking with Democrat Sen. Bill Dotzler.

Chapman provided his own response.

“I respected my colleagues when social distancing was not practical and wore a mask,” he said. “You are right, the camera is always watching. I’m wondering if your Democrat colleagues would like me to post their picture without a mask on in the chamber. Plenty of pictures! #outoftouch.”

Chapman followed with a photo that shows Democrat Senators Kevin Kinney and Celsi without any face coverings.

That’s where the conversation ended.
