Name: Sen. Jake Chapman, Republican

Office/District: State Senate District 10

Hometown: Adel

Profession: Businessman/EMT

Why running for re-election: “We’ve accomplished a lot over the last few years, but there is still more work yet to be done. I think, particularly when you start looking at Iowa’s tax climate, that’s something that I was focused on. We can and should do much better when it comes to our tax climate. So, I’d like to be able to get back down there and finish the job on that.

“I have been a staunch pro-life legislator and we definitely have more work yet to be done on that. Defending life is the most basic, fundamental right and it’s the most important issue we can address as a legislature. This constitutional amendment is a multi-year process and, even once that’s completed, we’ll still have yet more work to do to protect the lives of innocent babies.”
