(Tuesday), shady executive Theresa Greenfield (D-County Club Knolls) announced she would be blowing off the KGAN-TV/Cedar Rapids Gazette debate as well as one hosted by the Spencer Daily Reporter. Combat veteran Joni Ernst (R-Red Oak) joined KCAU to discuss Greenfield’s decision to dodge debates, including one in rural Iowa.

Joni said, in part:

“[Greenfield] has turned down officially now I understand two of those: one with the Spencer Daily Reporter, which would be a rural forum, which would be wonderful because Iowa is obviously an ag state, a very rural state, and the other one with KGAN and the Cedar Rapids Gazette. She turned them down as well. That would have been a televised debate.

“So, I’m really disappointed because I think folks need to understand what it is she stands for. Does she support rolling back the 2nd Amendment? Does she support abortion on demand in any stage of a woman’s pregnancy? Who is funding her campaign? I think she needs to come clear on all of that.”

Tuesday, Joni announced she has accepted six debates.

“Shady executive Theresa Greenfield is an out of touch liberal who has turned her back on rural communities. She’s dodging debates with the Spencer Daily Reporter and KGAN-TV and the Cedar Rapids Gazette because she doesn’t want folks to learn the truth about her liberal record. But the millions being spent to elect Greenfield from liberal extremists who will defund police, raise taxes, and destroy Iowa jobs tells Iowans all we need to know about where she stands,” said Team Joni Spokesperson Melissa Deatsch.

In June, Joni called on Greenfield to join her in six debates. In the video, Joni underscored the importance of ensuring that Iowans hear what the candidates have to say.
