Iowa Workforce Development has announced that Iowa’s unemployment rate for the month of September was 4.7%. Unemployment has gone down for 5 straight months after the April high. The national rate for September was 7.9%. We have the 5th lowest rate in the nation, trailing only Nebraska, South Dakota, Vermont and North Dakota, all with Republican Governors, by the way. There are currently 76,600 unemployed Iowans. Iowa has 64,000 job openings. There are 1,499,500 Iowans who are working in non-farm jobs compared to 1,395,500 in April. This is an increase of 104,000 since April. The states with the 5 highest unemployment rates in September are Hawaii, Nevada, California, Rhode Island and Illinois, all over 10%, all with Democrat Governors.

You may have wondered why unemployment figures are often given as “non-farm employment or unemployment.” The Federal Reserve Board in St. Louis offers this explanation: Farm labor often includes self-employment, unpaid family employment, part time or hobby families and other partnerships. Also, we all know that there is much more work on many farms in the spring at planting time, and in the fall at harvest time.

Judiciary Committee Boycott

The Democrats on the U.S. Senate Judiciary Committee boycotted the vote on the nomination of Judge Amy Coney Barrett to the U. S. Supreme Court. The Committee voted 12-0 to recommend her to the full Senate for a vote. It appears that she will be confirmed on Monday, October 26.

In light of this tactic, you might be interested in the rule on committee quorums in the Iowa Senate. Here is the rule, Rule 39 (1): “A majority of the members shall constitute a quorum.”  Obviously a boycott of a committee meeting by the minority party would not be successful in the Iowa Senate either.

More on Bidens Scandal

Peter Schweizer, Breitbart news senior contributor, has announced that a former business partner of Hunter Biden, Bevan Cooney, who is currently serving a prison term, has turned over to him, 26,000 e-mails, dealing with Biden family corruption. Cooney gave Schweizer his user name and password and authorized him to examine all the e-mails. The first article on these emails was published Friday afternoon, and detailed how “Hunter Biden and his partners secured meetings with senior White House officials in November 2011 for Chinese Communist elites—including, as the Chinese elites who were present revealed, a secret meeting with then-Vice President Joe Biden himself.”

Also, described is a payment to Hunter Biden from the ex-wife of the former mayor of Moscow, Yelene Baturina. There apparently is more to come. This information is completely separate from the e-mails involving the Ukraine payments to Hunter Biden that were the subject of the earlier New York Post story.

A third source of information is Tony Bobulinski, another ex-business associate of Hunter Biden. At a news conference last Thursday, he stated that he has a huge number of e-mails with members of the Biden family regarding dealings with Chinese businessmen with connections to the Chinese Communist Party. At the news conference Bobulinski stated among other things that  “I have heard Joe Biden say he has never discussed his dealings with Hunter. That is false. I have firsthand knowledge about this because I directly dealt with the Biden family, including Joe Biden,” .  .  . In addition, another email “showed the four partners each getting 20 percent shares in the business, with 10 percent going to “Jim” and the remaining 10 percent “held by H for the big guy?” The big guy has been identified as Joe Biden.

I noted that in the Thursday debate, Joe Biden said he had not received any money from foreign sources. He did not deny the rest of the stories. It may be that Hunter, or another family member is holding Joe’s share.

It is very disturbing that most of the mainstream media is either ignoring these stories or downplaying their credibility. You can find much more information by doing a computer search for “Biden scandal” or something similar.
