Coming off his re-election, Sen. Chuck Grassley took to Twitter on Thursday with a simple message targeting Republicans — many of whom likely voted for him a couple of days ago: Shut up about the 2020 Presidential Election.

Here is Grassley’s post:

“Let’s look to the next election. Quit talking abt 2020. Follow Lincoln advice ‘I do not deny the possibility that the people may err in an election but if they do the true cure is the next election.'”

Exactly one week prior to this tweet, Grassley was a featured guest at a Save America Rally hosted by President Donald J. Trump, who has talked about 2020 more than anyone. Grassley was also thankful to have Trump’s endorsement due to Trump’s popularity.

It is a bit ironic to hear Grassley say to stop talking about 2020 and instead to focus on the “next election.” The “next election” happened three days ago and many results are still unknown, ballots are still being counted, shenanigans once again took place.

What’s worse, it appears Grassley doesn’t grasp what the objection to 2020 is about. Lincoln’s advice is clearly about when the voters get it wrong — but nobody who has questions about 2020 believes the voters got it wrong, they believe the election was rigged.

Does Chuck even realize or understand the objections to 2020? This tweet certainly suggests he does not.

Here are some of the replies Grassley received on Twitter:

“This is where you are wrong. There is not one more election that will be legitimate unless you fix the corruption of the 2020 Election. Same Dominion machines, same corruption!”

“Giving the middle finger to the MAGA base, eh Chuck Grassley?”

“Seriously? You were re-elected so now you want to ignore the cheating going on in other states right now? The cheating will continue if you do not fix 2020. The sooner you understand this the better you will fare in the years to come. We will hold you accountable for everything.”

“I reluctantly filled the circle and now 48 hours later I regret it.”

“You say that after you won. Noticed you didn’t say that before Tuesday.”

One thing is painfully obvious to the Republican Party’s base in Iowa — they were played by the eight-term United States Senator. On Nov. 3 he shared the stage with President Trump. On Nov. 8 he was re-elected. And on Nov. 10 he told them all to forget about 2020 and move on to the “next election.”

To quote former NFL coach Dennis Green, Chuck Grassley is who we thought he is. And the voters — mostly MAGA voters — let him off the hook.
