Name: Sen. Dennis Guth, Republican

Office/District: State Senate District 4

Hometown: Klemme

Why running for re-election: “The social issues that I’ve been working on have been gaining traction, but they haven’t passed yet. I think that’s something that we do have some positive input on and I have a plan for doing that again in another year. I’m looking at continuing that. Also, I feel like I’ve gained a knowledge of the process and contacts for the people who you have to be able to talk with and get things done. I feel like I’m effective. I’m going to give it one more shot here, another four years, and see if it isn’t a possibility to pass a Religious Freedom and Restoration Act and things like that.

“We’ve got to keep working on getting the Life Amendment passed this year and then I hope we’ll be able to pass it again next year as well. That all depends on the election.

“I have found out there’s a lot of things that go beyond just legislation that a senator does that is important to our state. Things like the approval of the Governor’s nominees, interacting with the commission that selects the candidate for the Supreme Court and other district courts. And, other different department heads. I’ve had input into some of those and just realize that it’s important that we have people with a Christian worldview to have their input on everything that we do.”
