According to calculations, Democrat Sen. Rob Hogg has been absent from 71 percent of the floor votes in the Iowa Senate.

He has been recorded for a vote on six days — six days. It is believed he has only been at the legislature those six days — other than showing up for the Black Lives Matter protest.

On two of the six days where he has shown up, he’s left debate early.

Hogg has been assigned six subcommittee assignments — two of which never met. Meanwhile, Democrat State Sen. Tony Bisignano was assigned with more than 90 subcommittees.

Hogg has been in the Senate for 14 years and with only 18 Democrats in the chamber, he’s not a ranking member of anything.

The people of his district have no representation. They deserve much better than what they’re getting — even if it is just another Democrat.
