Perhaps the most frustrating part of watching the ongoing Marxist insurrection in America is the insane reaction to the broadly popular effort of Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) to deport criminally identified foreign illegal aliens. The national media, a long-compliant mouthpiece for the left, has misreported facts, underreported alien-perpetrated crimes and wildly exaggerated law enforcement efforts to do its job. The media narrative has gotten so bad that good western Iowa conservatives have asked me if I am still comfortable with President Trump’s directives. The answer is not only yes, but I voted for this and want more of this.
History is an incredible lens for viewing the hypocrisy and motives of groups of people. President Obama was elected in 2008 and served two terms, until 2016. It seems to be entirely forgotten by both his supporters and opponents that his administration was among the most successful in deporting illegal aliens. During this time Tom Homan held a senior position of Executive Associate Director of Enforcement and Removal Operations. Homan received the Presidential Rank Award for distinguished service in 2015. From 2013 through 2016, ICE, with Tom Homan, deported over 920,000 aliens.
How could this be? The same man, now President Trump’s “Border Czar,” is doing the same thing in smaller numbers this year. What could have changed? Would the levelheaded leftists who now spit on and assault law enforcement officers while carrying a firearm act the same way if it were Obama still doing what he did in his second term? Of course not. The violence and turmoil are not due to deportations. They are coordinated efforts to disrupt the single term President Trump has left, and to run out the four-year clock on him.
The individuals being detained and deported are the criminals. The fraudsters. The low hanging fruit. Their removal certainly should not be controversial. Indeed, polling shows broad support for removing violent alien offenders both in the Obama administration and the Trump administration. But the nonreporting by the national and some state media papered over any incident during the Obama administration. Remember as soon as Trump was president the pictures of cages to hold immigrant children started popping up? It was later revealed those were built by the Obama administration. But the damage was done and set the stage for what we see now.
The problem we are seeing now is that Democrat officeholders in Washington, D.C. and Minnesota have so radicalized some left-wing voters that they are now whipped up into a violent frenzy. That woke mom who drove into an ICE agent wouldn’t have done that under Obama. Even as ICE was doing the same thing as now to secure the country.
It was mentioned at a recent forum that it was unseemly that ICE officers would use face coverings. I wish they didn’t have to. But the media and Democrat politicians have so radicalized liberals and progressives that many of those people will identify and doxx (reveal the officer’s identity and address) and go harass and intimidate the officer’s family. Again, this didn’t happen under Obama. The same question can be asked of all the Black Lives Matter, Antifa, and ICE protesters. Why do they wear masks? It’s because they intend to do something that is illegal. But try to find that in a newspaper.
I am as proud of the Trump administration and ICE officers as I can be. I hope they break all records in deportations during President Trump’s time in office. And then I hope the next administration crushes his record. The biggest threats to America from the Marxist elements are to replace the American population with foreigners. Trump is working to fix that. The other is to steal elections where there is no voter ID. Iowa fixed that here at home and Trump is working to fix that in Washington. I’ll vote for more of that every day.
Due to the Twin City Trainwreck, Iowans who want America to succeed are asking that we make sure law enforcement cooperate with ICE if they expand major operations into Iowa. Others, with the opposite motive, are emailing us to let law enforcement resist ICE. The good news is that the Republican trifecta took care of this in 2018 and there is nothing that needs to be done. There will be no headlines or controversy. Just being ahead of the problem.
