State Sen. Brad Zaun filed Senate Concurrent Resolution 2 on the first day of the legislative session to urge members of Congress to propose an amendment to the Constitution requiring the Supreme Court to be composed of nine justices.

Congress raised the number of justices on the Supreme Court to nine in 1869. It has remained at nine since then.

Zaun’s resolution urges Congress to propose a constitutional amendment requiring that number remain at nine.
