Today’s Senate subcommittees are highlighted by a bill that relates to employing unauthorized aliens and possession of marijuana.

SSB 1161: Senate Study Bill 1161 was filed by Sen. Jake Chapman. It’s an act relating to post-loss assignment of rights to residential contractors for repair or services performed on residential real estate covered by property and casualty insurance.

SSB 1012: Senate Study Bill 1012 was proposed by Sen. Brad Zaun. It’s an act relating to the possession of marijuana.
This bill would provide that a person who possesses five grams or less of marijuana commits a simple misdemeanor for a first offense. A simple misdemeanor is punishable by confinement for no more than 30 days, or a fine of at least $65 but not more than $625 or by both.
