A pair of bills relating to abortion are up for debate in Senate subcommittees today, along with a bill relating to the possession of marijuana. Another piece of legislation would create a Beginning Farmers Tax Credit.

SSB 1182: Senate Study Bill 1182 was proposed by the Department of Agriculture and Land Stewardship. It’s an act relating to the powers and duties of the Department of Agriculture and Land Stewardship, by changing the name of the weather bureau, modifying reporting requirements regarding agricultural liming material, modifying provisions applicable to demonstration projects involving alternative fuels, transferring certain code sections, providing for the use of certain appropriated moneys for surface water quality, and eliminating certain watershed demonstration pilot projects.

SF 270: Senate File 270 was filed by Sen. Charles Schneider. It’s an act relating to the health education requirement for grades nine through 12 under the education standards.

The bill adds mental health awareness, coping skills and suicide prevention to the subject matter that must be included in the unit of health education which school districts and nonpublic schools must offer and teach in grades 9-12.

SSB 1181: Senate Study Bill 1181 was proposed by Sen. Dan Zumbach. It’s an act providing for a beginning farmer tax credit program, providing for fees and including effective date and retroactive applicability provisions.

SSB 1125: Senate Study Bill 1125 was proposed by Sen. Roby Smith. It’s an act repealing the requirement that a groundwater hazard statement be submitted with each declaration of value that is submitted to a county recorder in order to grant, assign, transfer or convey real property.

SF 184: Senate File 184 was proposed by the Transportation Committee. It’s an act permitting the transportation of certain types of loads by motor vehicles exceeding certain weight limitations.

SSB 1159: Senate Study Bill 1159 was proposed by the Judicial branch. It’s an act concerning jurors, relating to access to certain Department of Revenue Taxpayer Information for jury list compilation and juror information confidentiality.

SF 169: Senate File 169 was filed by Sen. Mark Segebart. It’s an act relating to bone marrow donation public awareness.

SSB 1117: Senate Study Bill 1117 was proposed by Sen. Roby Smith. It’s an act relating to the protection of certain patient information and data under the purview of the Department of Public Health.

SF 264: Senate File 264 was filed by Sen. Amy Sinclair. It’s an act relating to petitions for reclassification of certain secondary roads.

SF 277: Senate File 277 was filed by Sen. Chris Cournoyer. It’s an act relating to manufacturers of alcoholic beverages.

SSB 1170: Senate Study Bill 1170 was proposed by Sen. Brad Zaun. It’s an act relating to the non-consensual termination of and serious injury to a human pregnancy.

SSB 1155: Senate Study Bill 1155 was proposed by Sen. Jeff Edler. It’s an act relating to the composition of county compensation boards.

SF 286: Senate File 286 was filed by Sen.  Jake Chapman. Senator Jerry Behn is the cosponsor. It’s an act prohibiting persons from intentionally blocking the movement of traffic on certain highways.

SF 259: Senate File 259 was filed by Sen. Randy Feenstra. It’s an act relating to the definition of person from the moment of conception until natural death under the criminal code.

SSB 1106: Senate Study Bill 1106 was proposed by Sen. Brad Zaun. It’s an act relating to the liability of the state, counties, municipalities and employees thereof certain torts.

SSB 1012: Senate Study Bill 1012 was proposed by Sen. Brad Zaun. It’s an act relating to the possession of marijuana.

SSB 1063: Senate Study Bill 1063 was proposed by the Judicial branch. It’s an act relating to clerks of court, including the number of counties in which a clerk may serve and residency requirements.

SSB 1149: Senate Study Bill 1149 was proposed by Sen. Jason Schultz. It’s an act concerning unemployment insurance.
