Senate subcommittees on Tuesday deal with the term meat, offenses of sexual activity with a 16 or 17-year old and self-administered hormonal contraceptives.

SCR 7: Senate Concurrent Resolution 7 was proposed by Sen. Dan Zumbach. It’s a resolution recognizing the importance of multilateral trade agreements to Iowa’s economy and urging Congress to enact legislation to implement a multilateral trade agreement between the United States, Canada and Mexico.

SF 220: Senate File 220 was proposed by the Ways and Means Committee. It’s an act relating to the increased expensing allowance deduction by corporations, financial institutions, and partnerships and limited liability companies taxed as corporations.

SF 299: Senate File 299 was proposed by Sen. Tom Shipley. It’s an act providing for the regulation of certain food products by using the term meat.

SSB 1135: Senate Study Bill 1135 was proposed by the State Public Defender. It’s an act relating to payments from the indigent defense fund by the state public defender for costs incurred by a privately retained attorney representing an indigent person.

SSB 1190: Senate Study Bill 1190 was proposed by Sen. Amy Sinclair. It’s an act relating to the responsibilities and authority of school districts or school corporations, accredited nonpublic schools, or area education agencies.

SF 318: Senate File 318 was proposed by Sen. Herman Quirmbach and has 10 cosponsors. It’s an act establishing the office of student loan ombudsman within the college student aid commission.

SF 179: Senate File 179 was filed by Sen. Roby Smith. It’s an act establishing the offense of sexual activity with an individual 16 or 17 years of age.

This bill provides a person who engages in sexual activity with another person who is 16 or 17 is guilty of a class D felony if the other person is not at the time cohabiting with the person as the person’s spouse and the person is 10 or more years older than the other person.

SSB 1147: Senate Study Bill 1147 was proposed by Sen. Brad Zaun. It’s an act relating to debts for which the homestead is liable by providing that the homestead may be sold to satisfy debts secured by a mechanic’s lien, including principal, interest, attorney fees and costs.

SSB 1063: Senate Study Bill 1063 was proposed by the Judicial branch. It’s an act relating to clerks of court, including the number of counties in which a clerk may serve and residency requirements.

SF 251: Senate File 251 was filed by Sen. Mariannette Miller-Meeks. It’s an act relating to the provision of Medicaid coverage to pregnant women lawfully residing in the United States.

SSB 1199: Senate Study Bill 1199 was proposed by Sen. Brad Zaun. It’s an act relating to business entities by providing for different types of limited liability companies and the dissolution of limited liability companies.

SF 348: Senate File 348 was filed by Sen. Mariannette Miller-Meeks. It’s an act relating to the prescribing and dispensing of self-administered hormonal contraceptives.
