A Senate subcommittee will be held today at 1 p.m. on Senate Study Bill 1004. The bill amends Iowa criminal code to provide the death penalty for capital murder committed by an adult if convicted of murder in the first degree, kidnapping in the first, second or third-degree and sexual abuse in the first, second or third-degree with respect to the same victim and the victim is a minor.

Currently in Iowa the stiffest penalty is the same for kidnapping and raping a minor as it is for kidnapping, raping and murdering a minor.

You can watch the subcommittee here.
