KinderCare in Johnston serves kids from six weeks to 12 years old. It seeks to develop children by challenging them on an emotional, physical, intellectual and social level with safety being their No. 1 priority.

“So you can be comfortable knowing your child is in good hands,” the KinderCare website states.

And, according to a source, KinderCare allowed a teacher to hang a large “straight alliance” flag in a classroom during the month of June. The classroom, according to the source, was for 4-year-old kids.

When questioned whether the flag was appropriate for the classroom, the administration said as long as it is part of the curriculum it is fine.

When asked for the exact curriculum, the administrator had no answer.

The Iowa Standard reached out to KinderCare in hopes of asking the administrator about the situation. After a week, KinderCare has not responded.

If they do, we will publish an update.

On KinderCare Learning Centers’ Facebook page, the company promoted Pride month a couple of times.
