Liberty Counsel Action chairman Mat Staver is warning the United States Senate “has the votes” to pass the “(Dis)Respect for Marriage Act,” according to anonymous sources. On Monday night, Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer demanded a vote on the bill. The Senate is expected to take the vote on Wednesday.
Staver said if Republicans control the House in 2023, the bill likely will not pass. Thus, the focus is on stopping HR 8404 through the remainder of 2022.
The vote was originally planned for Thursday, but will now be held tomorrow. Staver wrote the “(Dis)Respect for Marriage Act” has shocked the LC Action team.
“What is happening now with little girls being abused in child bride ‘marriages’ in a few states, if this bill passes, also will happen in EVERY STATE and also will include little boys who will be ‘married’ off to pedophiles,” Staver wrote. “Suddenly, it would be legal for a 50-year-old man to ‘marry’ a 15-year-old boy in Mississippi. A 14-year-old boy in North Carolina. Or a little boy of any age in California!”
Staver said he cannot believe he’s having to describe something like this in America.
“It is heartbreaking and there should be a massive outcry,” he said. “But instead, we hear nothing but cheering and support for making this worse from key leaders in Washington, D.C.”
Should the bill pass, Staver said molesters will not have to travel to a Third World country, they’ll be given the ability to “marry” a young boy in America.
“And this bill will force every government official in the state to turn a blind eye to the plight these children are in,” Staver said. “This is sick! Our nation is on the verge of going insane.”
