Thank you to both Iowa County and Kossuth County Supervisors for filing formal objections with the Iowa Utilities Board. These are objections to the right of eminent domain being possibly extended through the Iowa Utilities Board to CO2 pipeline projects.
Eminent domain is when the government takes an individual’s property for public use. Property rights are our rights to hold not just land. Property rights extend to our right to hold everything we own. Allowing the government to decide who can own what based on the lie of Climate Change is the greasiest of slopes. Eminent domain is to be used carefully and thoughtfully, not as a means to make profit for private businesses and certainly not to promote pet ideologies such as Climate Change.
Wealthy people like Bruce Rastetter, CEO of Summit Ag Solutions, can get all taxpayers to pay for their business expenses through lobbying for bills like 45Q to be passed in our legislatures. Many people on both sides of the aisle have long blamed the other side for our government’s leaky pockets. The truth is that there is an unholy alliance between our governments and large corporations. These corporations have the money for lobbying, money for political contributions and the money to “invest” in government projects.
Landowners are offered 23-page voluntary easement contract to sign though I have great doubts that many landowners will. Letters were sent out to ethanol plant stakeholders advising them to “invest” in the pipeline. When a person “invests” alongside these corporations in these schemes they are culpable in all the graft happening in our country.
Democrats will pass any bills that spend taxpayer money to stop Climate Change and Republicans will pass legislative bills that allow these big corporations to bill the government for their Climate Change related business ventures. Taxpayers are forced to comply. Our lawmakers call this bipartisanship, I call it tyranny. Hopefully more and more people are waking up to the truth.
