Local businessman Tom Purl announces his candidacy today for the Ames Community School District Board of Directors.

“It’s important to me to invest in the youth in our community,” says Purl about his decision to run for one of the three open ACSD Board of Director seats up for election on November 2. Purl, a business owner of a financial service office, has also served as a volunteer Little League coach for football and baseball for years.

“My passion for inspiring youth, combined with my leadership experience in business has prepared me to collaborate with a diverse team committed to a shared goal of quality education,” says Purl. He explains, “I am running for school board as a next step in my investment in the children of our community.”

Purl has called Ames home for 30 years. He and his wife Kacie believe Ames is the perfect place to raise their two children. “I value the opportunity our children have to grow friendships with and learn from classmates from so many different backgrounds. The diversity in our kids’ classrooms is one of the great things Ames is afforded over other Iowa towns.”

Originally from the Chicagoland area, Purl is an Iowa State University alum and Cyclone fan. More information about Purl’s campaign can be found on his Facebook page at Tom Purl for School Board.
