A high school volleyball player in North Carolina suffered severe injuries to her head and neck recently after a biological boy identifying as a female spiked a ball into her face.

The incident happened in a match between Hiwassee Dam High School and Highlands High School. The boy was playing for Highlands High School.

Reports indicate the actual girl who was hit with the ball suffered severe head and neck injuries that have resulted in ongoing concussion symptoms, including vision problems.

Following the actual girl’s injury, the Cherokee County Board of Education voted 5-1 to cancel all future volleyball matches against Highlands, citing a safety issue.
