President Donald J. Trump continued to publicly support Congressman Kevin McCarthy for Speaker of the House. Trump took to Truth Social on Tuesday and said:

“Some really good conversations took place (Tuesday) night, and it’s now time for all of our GREAT Republican House members to VOTE FOR KEVIN, CLOSE THE DEAL, TAKE THE VICTORY & WATCH CRAZY NANCY PELOSI FLY BACK HOME TO A VERY BROKEN CALIFORNIA,” Trump wrote, noting Pelosi is the only Speaker in history to lose the House twice.

“Republicans, do not turn a great triumph into a giant and embarrassing defeat,” he continued. It’s time to celebrate, you deserve it. Kevin McCarthy will do a good job, and maybe even a great job – just watch!”

An hour after that post, Trump said if Republicans are going to fight, they ought to fight Mitch McConnell and his wife.

“The harm they have done to the Republican Party is incalculable,” Trump wrote. “Today, he couldn’t be elected ‘dog catcher’ in Kentucky. Sadly, he only won because of my endorsement.”

A fake statement was put out using Trump’s Save America masthead later in the day. Trump said he has always supported Rep. Byron Donalds, who was nominated as the alternative to McCarthy on Wednesday, and while he will “have his day,” it isn’t now.

  1. When Trump makes this kinds of character judgements it brings to mind the poor character of many of the people he chose to work with him in the White House. People that caused him insurmountable problems. Did he not learn from those unfortunate appointments?
