U.S. Senator Tommy Tuberville (R-AL) joined more than 100 Republican lawmakers in both the Senate and House of Representatives in filing an amicus brief with the U.S. Supreme Court supporting a lawsuit to protect women and their unborn children from dangerous mail-order chemical abortion drugs. The brief argues that mifepristone’s in-person dispensing requirement must be reinstated.
Earlier this year, Sen. Tuberville helped introduce the Safeguarding Women from Chemical Abortion Act, which would withdraw Food and Drug Administration approval of mifepristone for abortion and empower women harmed by taking the drug to sue its manufacturers.
“Mifepristone is extremely dangerous and has no place in this country,” said Sen. Tuberville. “The mainstream media won’t tell you this, but one in ten women who take this dangerous drug suffers serious health problems. The safety of America’s mothers and children should not be a political pawn. I urge the justices of the Supreme Court to affirm Louisiana’s decision and protect women and babies across the country.”
