Congresswoman Ashley Hinson (IA-01) gave the below remarks to veterans who took the Eastern Iowa Honor Flight to Washington, D.C. on Tuesday.

“Thank you for accompanying these great men that served our country, these freedom fighters, to see this veteran memorial here in Washington, D.C.

“I am so honored to serve you here in Washington, D.C. and I am so thankful for your service because I understand what I am fighting for would not be possible without what you have done for our country.

“I hope you enjoy your day, share those stories, and have those conversations. You continue to give me the motivation I need every day to get up and fight here. I want you to know how thankful I am, truly, to have you here today.

“I spent so many years covering when the flight would depart to Washington, D.C. during my time as a news anchor and now to be here to welcome you, it means a lot to me. I want you to know how honored I am and blessed to be able to serve you here in Washington, D.C. Thank you very much and enjoy your day.”
