This resolution was passed by a majority of those attending the Jan. 11, 2021 meeting of the Republican Central Committee for Warren County.
Text of the resolution reads:
The Republican Central Committee of Warren County Iowa condemns (A) the lawless invasion of the Capitol by the less than one percent of those attending what was always intended to be a peaceful protest against election fraud; (B) the lawless abuse of the 25th Amendment and the power of impeachment to remove the duly elected President Donald J. Trump prior to the end of his term based on the patently false accusation that he incited the invasion of the Capitol; and (C) the brutal censorship of conservative viewpoints by social media.
We note that the 25th Amendment is intended for removal of the President due to an inability to perform the powers and duties of his office. There is no evidence of such inability.
We note that the impeachment power is intended for removal of an office who has committed high crimes and misdemeanors. The House of Representatives intends to impose a snap impeachment apparently without investigations, hearings or the opportunity for any due process traditionally provided for the President in an impeachment.
We reject the false claim that the President incited the invasion of the Capitol.
In fact, the assault on the Capitol police began at 12:40 p.m. The President began his speech at noon and did not finish until 1:11 p.m. Given that it would take at least 32 minutes to walk from the Ellipse to the Capitol, the rioters would have had to depart the Ellipse either before or a few minutes after the President’s speech began.
In his speech, the President never called for violence, force or an overthrow of the government. He did call for a march “over to the Capitol building to peacefully and patriotically make your voices heard.” This is not an incitement to any illegal act.
We also condemn the actions of Twitter, Facebook and Amazon to silence conservatives under the guise of preventing violence.
