Waukee Schools not moving forward with implementing vaccine mandate

Waukee staff were notified that the Supreme Court’s ruling on the OSHA vaccine mandate suspends the policies the school board approved on Monday night, according to a copy of an email sent to The Iowa Standard.

“Thus we will not be moving forward with implementing this vaccine mandate,” the update said.

The board passed policies compliant with the implementation of the OSHA Emergency Temporary Standard requiring employers with more than 100 employees to adopt, implement and enforce a written, mandatory vaccine policy for the workplace.

However, the Supreme Court struck that down last week.

“The board prepared for this through a recommendation that indicated these policies would not go into effect if not required,” the message said.
