There is no doubt the words that came from a Johnston High School student describing what happened to her one week ago in class will garner statewide, if not national, attention.

If you missed it, she told the school board about an incident where a male student put his hands down his pants and then about five minutes later took his hand out of his pants and licked his hand before wiping his hand on the desk.

This isn’t the first time something like this has happened at a metro school. We reported about it happening at Southeast Polk too.

And in the midst of this, educators and liberals are defending the use of materials in schools like “Gender Queer,” “All Boys Aren’t Blue,” “Lawn Boy” and “The Absolutely True Diary of a Part-Time Indian.”

The book about the part-time Indian is in Johnston. It literally promotes — wait for it — masturbation.

Here is an excerpt:

“I spend hours in the bathroom with a magazine that has 1,000 pictures of naked movie stars: Naked woman + right hand = happy, happy, joy, joy.

“Yep, that’s right, I admit that I masturbate. I’m proud of it. I’m good at it. I’m ambidextrous. If there were a Professional Masturbators League, I’d get drafted number one and make millions of dollars.

“And maybe you’re thinking, ‘well, you really shouldn’t be talking about masturbation in public.’ Well, tough, I’m going to talk about it because EVERYBODY does it. And EVERYBODY likes it.

“And if God hadn’t wanted us to masturbate, then God wouldn’t have given us thumbs. So I thank God for my thumbs.”

How out of touch with reality does one have to be not to see what is happening? Schools are corrupting the kids. Completely corrupting them.

Every educator defending these materials should be ashamed. If they had any sense of sanity left and were not so completely given over to radical far-Left political ideology in their world of academia, they’d recognize it.

But they don’t. Because they can’t.

It’s likely some, if not all, are too far gone. Too far removed from reality to even see the irony.

And in the process, it is children who are being hurt.
