Here’s the short answer to why record numbers of Hispanics are voting Republican:
“The Democratic Party has abandoned the Hispanic community,” Mayra Flores told Fox News. “They are focused on white liberals. They are not focused on the Hispanic community. They couldn’t care less.”
In a special election in June, Mrs. Flores, a Mexican-born, Christian conservative mother of four married to a Border Patrol agent, stunned the political establishment by winning a South Texas congressional seat held for 100 years by Democrats.
She won with a platform of “God, family and country.”
The year before, McAllen, Texas, a border town that went for Hillary Clinton over Donald Trump by 40 points in 2016, elected a Republican mayor. Javier Villalobos defeated Democrat Veronica Vela Whitacre in McAllen, a Hidalgo County city of 150,000, of whom 85 percent are Hispanic.
These GOP gains in South Texas are sending shock waves through the Democrat Party, which thrives on race-based politics.
While commentators chalked Mrs. Flores’ victory up to inflation, gas prices and empty shelves – and that was all part of it – there is a deeper explanation.
Voters are saying, “Save us from the Biden/Democrat destruction of our country.”
Mrs. Flores stands for patriotism, traditional values, limited government, law and order, the Second Amendment, and recognition that our rights come from God, not man.
Reflecting on her victory, Mrs. Flores said of Democrats:
“They are not representing our values. We are about faith, family and hard work and that’s not the Democrat Party. In South Texas, I’m fighting for the conservative values that we were instilled, and I think it’s important we continue fighting for those values. Look, I’m not loyal to a party.
“I’ll say it over and over, my loyalty is with God, my family and with my community and I believe that it’s time to put Texas District 34 first. We have never had a voice here in Washington. No one really cared what we had to say and now people do care about the Hispanic community, now people actually care about the voice of Texas District 34.”
Can you see why liberals are working feverishly all over the country to get rid of election integrity safeguards like voter ID? God willing, that won’t work, and we will see more fresh faces like Mayra Flores and Javier Villalobos replace corrupt leftist politicians.
