Earlier today The Iowa Standard published a story about Des Moines Public School superintendent Thomas Ahart and his wife, Jami. In that story, we featured a photo of Jami wearing this costume in 2018.

It turns out that wasn’t the first time Jami wore the costume.

In 2016, Jami went to Trunk-or-Treat event hosted at Cowles Montessori, a school in the Des Moines district. And she wore the same costume then.

Not only is the photo placed in the album from the event, but it is also featured at the 53-second mark of this slideshow put together by the Des Moines Public School District.

The appropriateness of her social media posts is certainly questionable. But for the superintendent’s wife to show up at a DMPS-sponsored event at a DMPS campus where there were numerous young children celebrating Halloween dressed in the costume she wore — that seems to cross a line.
