A leaked classified Pentagon assessment warns Afghanistan has again become a staging ground for Islamic jihad attacks in Europe, Asia, and the United States.
You might recall that a lot of the Afghans brought to the U.S. after Joe Biden’s disastrous botched withdrawal were unvetted. We have no idea who they are. DHS Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas told Congress 84 percent are not U.S. citizens, lawful permanent residents, or holders of vetted Special Immigrant Visas. Worse, some are known explosives experts, according to congressional testimony from a former Trump defense official. Separately, a Defense Department whistleblower has alleged 324 Afghans now in the U.S. were on a Pentagon watch list.
In all, almost 300 known or suspected terrorists have been apprehended at the U.S. border in the current fiscal year as of last month, compared to 54 in all of fiscal 2021. The number has grown exponentially since the first quarter of this fiscal year, and that doesn’t even count the number of got-aways. Surprisingly, most of the apprehensions have been at the northern border.
One case shows you how loose things have gotten under Biden. An al Qaeda fighter named Shihab Ahmed Shihab Shihab recently pled guilty to plotting to smuggle four Iraqis over the southern border to assassinate former President George W. Bush. The plot was disrupted, but what’s important is to know how Shihab got into the United States. He flew into an airport on a tourist visa and, like so many others, overstayed his visa, then began to plot. So many aliens are entering the U.S. from countries of terrorism concern in the Middle East, South Asia, and North Africa, a Muslim-only shelter opened for them in Tijuana two blocks from the border. As I mentioned in a previous commentary, U.S. authorities have not gone to the shelter or asked the proprietors any questions. There are other known suspected terrorists U.S. officials have caught but released into the U.S.
The Biden administration’s instinct is to cover all this up and pretend it isn’t happening. In 2021, two Yemenis on the FBI Terrorism Watchlist were apprehended trying to enter the U.S. The government’s press release about it mysteriously disappeared the day it was posted, but was retrieved through a Freedom of Information Act request and is now online. Other records released show Biden administration officials conspiring to cover up the press release and to silence the border patrol from discussing the arrests.
So, once again, we have government by phony narrative – ‘the border is secure and terrorists are not coming across.’ Feel better now?
Muslim jihadists are not the only group to be concerned about. A China expert warns single Chinese males of military age without families are coming across the border in increasing numbers, suggesting they are either People’s Liberation Army or state security operatives. They are here, the expert says, to detonate bombs, cut water and power, and otherwise wreak havoc the first day China moves on Taiwan or elsewhere in Asia.
The Biden administration has rendered us vulnerable by exposing our underbelly to those who would slice it, but we are not helpless. We need to elect officials who will reinstate Trump’s tight immigration policies and build the wall.
