One of the insidious machines Democrats use to gain popularity and power is the democratization of vice. It’s an easy sell. Vote for the Democrats because they promise to legalize everything that feels good. It’s much harder to struggle against base instincts and not make pleasure-seeking the center of your existence.
But it’s a fantasyland to think things that feel good have no consequences. Sexual promiscuity? You’ll end up with sexually transmitted diseases or a baby you didn’t want. Legalized gambling? It’s foreseeable some people will end up with gambling addictions that will ruin their lives.
And so it is with recreational marijuana, now legal in 21 states and the District of Columbia, thanks to the Democrats. But there are consequences, as I’ve outlined in previous commentaries. One of those consequences is back in the news today: The number of toddlers poisoned by marijuana edibles is up 15-fold from five years ago, as marijuana has become legal in more states. There are now more than 3,000 cases a year. Hundreds of children are ending up in the hospital from eating marijuana-laced cookies, candies, and chocolate. They are admitted to critical care units with breathing problems or even in a coma. But if it feels good, do it – right? It doesn’t matter who you hurt, even your own children. Speaking of hurting children, a Virginia mother was charged with murder after her 4-year-old son died from eating THC gummies. Virginia legalized recreational marijuana in 2021, thanks to the Democrats.
Darn those pesky consequences. Here are some more:
Marijuana smoke causes more lung damage than tobacco smoke. More pot users than cigarette smokers have emphysema. It takes a while to manifest, but pot smoke pokes holes in lung tissue and users will eventually start coughing, wheezing, and having difficulty breathing. Marijuana smoke causes more damage because potheads hold it in longer.
Betcha the Democrats didn’t tell you that. They’re also not telling you you’re setting yourself up for psychosis and schizophrenia if you smoke marijuana. Not only that, if you expose your unborn child to marijuana, they are more likely to have psychotic episodes by the time they are 10.
The manufacturers are deliberately increasing the potency of their marijuana products because users are developing a tolerance, requiring more active ingredient to get the same high. So, you get all the psychosis and none of the profit. Sounds like a deal to me.
Other problems arising from marijuana use include: vomiting, anxiety, depression, suicidal ideation, memory loss, learning deficits, lost IQ, poor decisionmaking, heart attacks, lower income, impairment of relationships, and lower life expectancy. Should I go on? OK, I will: dropping out of high school, lower GPAs and longer graduation times in college, and vulnerability to opioid addiction. Betcha the smiley-face Democrats didn’t tell you all that.
Meanwhile, their friends in the pot industry will sell $30 billion of the stuff this year. Big players control the market. Somebody should investigate their political campaign contributions. What do you want to bet campaign donations didn’t buy Democrat votes to legalize marijuana in the 21 states I mentioned?

All of those things you say are true, but they pale in comparison to lots of things we could make illegal that are legal now. And, whoever heard of all this crazy stuff on the market? Gummy bears? What the hell? All people wanted was to repeal the marijuana laws, and instead we got all this crazy commercial garbage with chemical variations of THC that we never heard of before. You reap what you sow.
